E-news for Clean Vehicles – IRS Clean Energy Tool on Line

Introducing the E-news for Clean Vehicles

Welcome to the inaugural edition of our E-news for Clean Vehicles. This platform will serve as a quick and efficient way to deliver crucial updates and pertinent information to you.

IRS Launches Clean Energy Tool Online

Yesterday marked the launch of the IRS Energy Credits Online tool, a free resource provided by the IRS. This tool allows car dealers to register and submit time-of-sale reports, and in return, receive payments from the IRS for the clean vehicle tax credits. It’s highly recommended for dealers who anticipate selling clean vehicles in the coming year to register as soon as they can.

However, it’s essential to note that buyers will be unable to claim or transfer a clean vehicle tax credit if the dealer hasn’t registered and successfully submitted a time-of-sale report to the IRS Energy Credits Online tool.

Registration Process and Future Updates

At the outset, only one individual representative, who is currently authorized to legally bind the dealer or seller, can complete the initial registration via the IRS Energy Credits Online tool. However, this will change starting December 2023, when dealers and sellers will be able to authorize multiple employees to submit Time of Sale reports and advance payment requests.

The IRS is committed to assisting you throughout this process. If your dealership encounters any issues during the registration process, you can reach out to [IRS.Clean.Vehicles.Dealer.Info@IRS.gov](mailto:IRS.Clean.Vehicles.Dealer.Info@IRS.gov).

In the near future, the IRS plans to establish “office hours” that will provide dealers and sellers with an opportunity to ask questions or resolve problems. Rest assured, we will continue to deliver important updates and information through this platform.
