Attention all Software Developers, Return Transmitters, and Authorized IRS e-File Providers/EROs, we have an important update for you. The Form 1040 series schema for the tax year 2021/processing year 2022 is now available for download.

Details about the Form 1040 Series 2021v5.4

The 2021v5.4 version of the Form 1040 series is now ready for use. Software Developers and State organizations can download the Modernized e-File (MeF) schemas and business rules directly from their e-Services mailbox.

To access these files, there are a few prerequisites:

1. An active e-Services account
2. An e-File application with the Software Developer or State provider option, along with the associated tax type of 1040, 2350, 4868, 56 or 9465

Accessing the Form 1040 Series Schema

You might find several messages in your account. We recommend opening all of them to locate the set you wish to download. Please note that these messages are purged after 60 days.

If you have the appropriate role and do not find these files available for download within 48 hours, we encourage you to contact the MeF Mailbox at [email protected]. When contacting, please provide your Company Name, ETIN, and the Schema Package(s) with the Tax Year needed.
